Date: Sep 2 - Sep 6, 2024 Time: 7.30 - 8.00 pm Līlāvatī is a treatise by Indian mathematician Bhāskara II on mathematics, written in 1150 AD. It is the first volume of his main work, the Siddhānta Shiromani, alongside the Bijaganita, the Grahaganita and the Golādhyāya. The Lilavati is a celebrated mathematical text from ancient India, composed by the renowned mathematician Bhaskaracharya (also known as Bhaskara II) in the 12th century. This remarkable work stands out for its unique approach to presenting mathematical concepts through poetic verses and engaging word problems. The Lilavati covers a wide range of mathematical topics and is considered one of the most influential works in the history of Indian mathematics. Its enduring popularity stems not only from its mathematical content but also from its literary style, which makes complex ideas accessible and memorable. The text has inspired generations of scholars and continues to be studied and admired for its elegant fusion of mathematics, poetry, and practical problem-solving. The session will be offered by Tejaswi Adinarayanan, recent graduate of Dharma Gurukulam and new adhyapak at Svadharma Gurukulam.
