Yogic Psychology Session 1: Introduction to Yoga Darshana and various Yogic texts-- Darshana shastras (Indian philosophical systems) and place of Yoga in them. Highlights of various Yogic texts including Yogasutra of Patanjali, Hathayoga Pradipika, Gheranda Samhita, Yoga Yagnavalkya and Bhagavad Gita Session 2: Summary of Yogasutra of Patanjali-- Summary of Samadhi Pada, Sadhana Pada, Vibhuti Pada and Kaivalya Pada. Chanting of select sutras from Yogasutra of Patanjali Session 3: Summary of Yogasutra of Patanjali-- Summary of Samadhi Pada, Sadhana Pada, Vibhuti Pada and Kaivalya Pada. Chanting of select sutras from Yogasutra of Patanjali Session 4: Neurons, Nervous system and Endocrine system -- Behavior and the impact of Yoga Understanding human psychology through the endocrine system and nervous systems. Using scientific studies to understand the impact of Yogic practices on human emotions and behavior Session 5: Sensing the world around us: Panchakosha, Indriya, Avastha Trayi-- Understanding Panchakosha: Annamaya, Pranamaya, Manomaya, Vijnanamaya and Anandamaya. Highlighting the various avastha: Jagrit, Swapna and Sushupti from a modern science and yogic perspective. Session 6: Understanding personality: Western and Eastern perspective-- Understanding conditioned behavior and personality traits through modern psychology. How Yoga impacts personality leading to a positive outlook of life. Session 7: Emotions: Kleshas, Gunas and practices for positive emotions-- Understanding Gunas through the Bhagavad Gita, process of kleshas, samskaras and vrittis through Yogasutra. Session 8 Stages of Development and Learning-- Western model of Cognitive and emotional development, Samskaras, Indian knowledge systems, Cognition and Conditionings Session 9 Psychological Problems and Yoga as a Solution-- Modern day mental health issues like stress, depression and anxiety and how Yogic practices can help solve them Session 10 Purushartha with focus on Moksha/Kaivalya, Summary of past sessions-- Understanding the purpose of human life and the goal of Yoga as Kaivalya as stated in the Yogasutra
