It is a significant part of the Durga Saptashati, also called the Chandi Path or Devi Mahatmyam, which is a sacred text that glorifies and celebrates the prowess of Maa Durga. The Devi Kavacham is composed of verses that are imbued with profound spiritual significance and mystical potency. These verses extol the various attributes and forms of the Divine Mother, invoking her divine protection and blessings upon the devotee. The word "kavacham" itself means armor or shield, indicating that the hymn serves as a protective shield for the devotee against negative energies and obstacles. The mantra brings out the different aspects of our life and body protected by the various forms of the Devi. This ensures that our deha and chitta are protected from adhyatmika and adibhautika obstacles. By offering heartfelt prayers through the recitation of Devi Kavacham, devotees attract the blessings and grace of Goddess Durga into their lives. These blessings manifest as prosperity, success, harmony, and overall well-being in all aspects of life.
