Yogic Practices

Simple Yogic Practices are part of all programs offered by Anaadi. To keep oneself vibrant throughout the Yatra and as a preparation to receive the divine energies of the Himalayas, participants will be taught simple yogic postures and breathing practices.

Meditation

The altitude and temperature of the Himalayas make it an ideal place for spiritual sadhana. Meditation makes us more open to experience deeper states of consciousness. Guided meditation sessions at various sacred places will help the participants to be in-tune with and imbibe the calmness and serenity of the Himalayas.

Engaging Discussions

The Himalayas provide the right setting for deep discussions. Participants will get the opportunity to liten to sthalapuranas, stories from the Mahabharata and vedantic insights.

Places

Rishikesh

Lord Vishnu appeared to Raibhya Rishi as a result of his Tapasya in the form of Hrishikesha (Lord of the senses). Known as the Yoga Capital of the World, Rishikesh is filled with Ashrams and Spiritual centers. The Neelkanth Mahadev Temple and Vashistha and Arundhati Caves reverberate with divine energy. Meditating on the banks of the Ganges will have a deep impact on the mind and body.

Ukhimath

Located in Rudraprayag District, Ukhimath is home to the Idols from Kedarnath and Madhyamaheswar during the winters. The wedding of Krishnas grandson Anirudha to Usha the daughter of Banasura was solemnized here. It serves as an entry point to the Panch Kedars: Kedarnath, Tunganath, Rudranath, Madhyamaheswar and Kalpeswar.

Tunganath

Tunganath is the highest of the Panch Kedars. It is the highest shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. Deeply linked to the Mahabharat, Tunganath is where the hands of Shiva (in the form of bull) was noticed by the Pandavas. Rama and Ravana both did severe penances as the Chandrashila peak near Tunganath.

Kedarnath

Part of the Chota Char Dham, Kedarnath is located at 11,000 feet above the sea level and was built by the Pandavas. It is named after King Kedar who ruled in the Satya Yuga. It is also one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams expounded in the Tevaram. This is the highest among the 12 Jyotirlingas.

Guptakashi and Kalimath

Of legendary significance linked to the Mahabharata, Guptakashi is hope to Kashi Vshwanatha. Shiva vanished at this place while the Pandavas were looking for him, giving the place its name : Gupt means secret or hidden.
Kalimath lies on the historical river Saraswati. Kali killed Rakthabija in this place. The most significant aspect of this temple is that Devi is worshipped in the form of Shri Yantra.

Yamunotri

Yamunotri is the seat of Maa Yamuna, the river that nourished the birth place of Lord Krishna. Close to the temple are hot water springs gushing out from the mountain cavities. A refreshing bath at the taptakund relieves yatris of fatigue.

Uttarkashi

Known as the Kashi of the North, Uttarkashi is a town situated right on the Banks of the Ganges. Filled with Ashramas and centers of traditional knowledge, Uttarkashi is a beautiful and sacred place.

Gangotri

Gangotri is the seat of Maa Ganga. There is a beautiful Ganga temple at Gangotri and yatris will get to visit the places where Bhagiratha and Pandavas did their penance.

Gomukh

Meaning "Mouth of a Cow", Gomukh is terrestrial source of Ganga. It is at a distance of 18km from Gangotri. Yatris will get to see the huge glacier at Gomukh.
